Welcome to 39, a fresh and innovative take on the traditional game of chess. While preserving the core principles of chess, 39 introduces new layers of strategic depth by allowing players to customize their starting positions and the composition of their pieces.
Rules:
Setup: Arrange pieces on your half of the board however you like, as long as their total value adds up to 39 points (piece values: Queen = 9, Rook = 5, Bishop = 3, Knight = 3, Pawn = 1, King = 0). Your setup remains hidden from your opponent until the game begins.
Light Mode Toggle: If you press the Light Mode toggle you can use only the pieces from the traditional chess set (King, Queen, 2 Rooks, 2 Knights, 2 Bishops, 8 Pawns), no more no less. If the toggle is off you can use any combination, e.g. 30 Pawns and a Queen.
Standard Rules Apply: Once both players finalize their setups, the positions are revealed and the game proceeds according to standard chess rules.
